Dear PCIA Students and Families,
I am excited to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. With the new school year comes new opportunities, and my hope that each of you will take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.
This year, PCIA’s staff and faculty have adopted the concept of “Better together” for this school year’s theme. “Better together” embraces the mission and purpose of PCIA, as we know that when other people are in our lives, we thrive. Having peers and dedicated staff working together towards common goals makes challenges and setbacks feel less impactful, because we know that we have a support system ready to lift us back up and help us get back on track.
In the book Together is Better by Simon Sinek, the author writes, “By ourselves, we’re not very good. We can’t lift heavy weight by ourselves and we can’t solve complex problems by ourselves. But together, we are remarkable.” This idea is one we will come back to again and again this school year. PCIA staff and instructors will intentionally incorporate activities throughout the school year that build and strengthen the PCIA community and reinforce how we are truly better together. The first activity planned for this school year is a trip to Camp Jonah to experience low and high rope challenges! More info about this activity will be sent home soon.
While the past couple of years have reminded us of the importance of having grace, patience, and flexibility, we are optimistic this will be a really great year for all of us. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year. My door is always open.
Best wishes for a great year,
Kaylene Herman
Dean of Students
