Dear PCIA Community,
It is with great pleasure and pride that I welcome you to the 2020-21 academic school year. It is an honor to continue serving as the MAS School District’s Superintendent and PCIA’s Principal.
It has been a wild ride these last few months, but I am proud of the resilience, commitment and hard work our students and staff have consistently demonstrated throughout these unprecedented times. The leadup to the start of school was eventful and challenging at times for everyone, but our team at PCIA continues to move forward, and I am encouraged by a fresh beginning full of new opportunities for our students. Despite COVID-19 challenges, PCIA staff and I are committed to providing a successful and joyous educational experience for you and your student(s).
As I spent the summer reflecting on the end of last school year and the start of this school year, it gave me a chance to review PCIA’s mission statement: “Pacific Crest Innovation Academy empowers students to discover their passion, define their goals, and graduate as confident, connected, critical thinkers who are college- and career-ready with a knowledge base to support adaptive lifelong learning.” Our students continue to impress me with their perseverance and determination to achieve academic excellence while here at Pacific Crest Innovation Academy. Last spring, eligible CiHS students successfully completed 75 college credits with a 3.70 average GPA. This is a direct result of their ability to adapt when we had to quickly pivot to distance learning. PCIA students returned to school this year more resilient, empowered, and confident learners. We will continue to focus on ways students can become active participants in the global community, when opportunities seem limited at this time. This year, while classes may look and feel a little different than it has in years past, PCIA instructors and our academic advisor continue to conscientiously develop coursework and projects that continue to prepare students for college and career readiness.
We value our partnership with families as we navigate these challenging times together. Student success is attributed to the partnership and the relationships we build within our community and this is important now more than ever. It truly does take a village and at PCIA we value teamwork and collaboration. Please feel free to call the office or email to schedule an appointment with me. My door is always open.
I look forward to a great school year!
Go Owls!
Bob Rogers
