“God’s Land”
This is a painting of a picture I took. The picture is of a good friend’s backyard. This friend has shown me grace and kindness when I was at my lowest. She also stayed by my side as my faith in God faltered. I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit in her and she showed me the grace of the Lord. She got me back on the path of salvation. I painted this in her favor. I can never repay her for the friendship she has given me but I can show her how much I care. I named this painting “God’s Land” because her house was where no evil resided. Her presence alone can send demons fleeing. To that friend, never lose faith. Never lose hope of what God has planned for you.

“View of Mt. Hood”
I painted using a reference photo of Mt. Hood that I took from a window in my house. It’s essentially an idealization of a view I see a version of almost every day. I used a lot of contrast between both color and texture to show all the different aspects of that one perspective. Choosing a clear sunset and a storm-cloud moving into the frame adds to this by showcasing how many different feelings one view can encapsulate. I made the foreground darker than the background both because that is what was in the reference picture I used and it adds to the contrast from the bright, blended sunset.
