We are so proud of our 2021 graduating seniors! Take a moment to read their reflections on their time at PCIA, as well as what’s next for them.
Favorite subject
This is hard to say…with all my great teachers, I really like each subject, but I’d have to say that English is my favorite. I’ve learned so much in English class through my three years at PCIA, discovering other’s perspectives and struggles, critically analyzing my own reactions to them, and writing about all manner of things. The value will not be lost on me, no matter what I do in life.
Activities/clubs you participate in
I am the first president of PCIA’s Science Club, an active member of both the Knowledge Bowl team and our Intramural Badminton Club, and the Student Representative to the school board.
What is your favorite memory at PCIA?
This is another tough one. I have so many great memories at PCIA. At this moment, I’d say my favorite memory was being able to turn science over in my mind until I formulated a question, then being able to bring that question to Mr. Van Duzor’s class and know that he would thoroughly answer and explain the question/concept until I understood the science behind it.
What have you enjoyed most about being a student at PCIA?
The fact that you will consistently be taught how to communicate, critically think, and to see the world in a broader scope than just your own experience.
What’s next after graduation?
I will be attending college in the pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
What advice do you have for incoming freshmen?
Don’t overwork yourself in the first two years. Take some time to figure out what organization and schedule work for you (listen to Ms. Herman). But make sure you plan some downtime and are social outside of school. Also, not sleeping enough isn’t trendy, it’s lamentable. Sleep as close to eight hours as possible, for as long as possible.
