College in the High School
College in the High School (CiHS) programs are partnerships between public schools and higher education institutions to provide college-level academic courses in high schools for qualified students. A high school partners with a college or university to define criteria for student eligibility for the CiHS program, with the goal of having every student who participates graduate from high school with up to two years of transferable college credit.Â
This innovative course structure, offered in a relationship-based learning environment that provides each student with several hours a week of small group instruction and academic support, gives every student an opportunity to accelerate their learning, improves retention rates, and raises performance expectations, helping students achieve more than they themselves may believe possible.

Learning Teams and Individual Learning Plans
Each student has a learning team that includes their parent/guardian, their faculty mentor, and their academic advisor. With the support of their learning team, students set goals and develop individualized learning plans. By giving students agency and ownership over their learning, guided by a coherent and rigorous set of educational goals, Pacific Crest Innovation Academy helps students maximize the use of their time, accelerate learning and increase their success in high school and beyond.
